WHY DID I TAPE THIS? is a peek inside a wood cabinet of poorly labeled VHS tapes taking up space in some parents' basement. Rewind through these years of broadcast television thanks to various archivists and their Youtube accounts.
There was a time when Tim considered himself a preeminent researcher of the unexplained. This was before Youtube, before the X-Files and before he had learned to drive. It was the late 1980s and Tim scoured the scrolling cable guide for every news report, special and possible mention of the unexplained that he could commit to VHS tape. And one weekday evening, following dinner but before Who's The Boss, he happened to stumble upon the recognizable face of Edward Mulhare locked in what could have been Spengler's summer rental. SECRETS AND MYSTERIES was a syndicated anthology series about the unknown. But this was the only episode Tim ever caught, made all the more memorable by its primitive CGI graphics and haunting alien reenactment.
