Ménage Á Pop is a three times a week intimate discussion between two people and a piece of pop culture.
With their rare releases, glorious gatefolds and sound that "just sounds better," records are a go-to metaphor for pop culture collecting. But the actual collectors are not as simple to pin down. In VINYL NATION, Christopher Boone and Kevin Smokler get people talking on their varied connections with this very medium. And, all week, they are here to discuss what inspired the documentary as well as what they found in making it. Its a three part, three way podcast spectacular (who's show notes might have benefitted from a little re-writing).
VINYL NATION is currently screening in virtual cinemas around the country. Visit www.vinylnationfilm.com to support and view this documentary. 50% of ticket sales (following platform fees) go to local and independent movie theaters in your area.
Christopher Boone is a filmmaker whose credits include the Nicholl Fellowship semifinalist CENTS (2016) His writings on filmmaking can be found at NO FILM SCHOOL.
KEVIN SMOKLER, is the author of BRAT PACK AMERICA: A LOVE LETTER TO 80S TEEN MOVIES available locally at INDIEBOUND.org. Follow him on TWITTER @weegee and learn more about his writing at www.kevinsmokler.com
Tune back on Wednesday when things get a little heated over the perceived arrogance and possible entitlements of record collecting as Chris and Kevin continue discussing their documentary VINYL NATION.
