Ménage Á Pop is a three times a week intimate discussion between two people and a piece of pop culture.
Navigating a single concert can be an effort, even when skipping the opening act. So how does one maneuver a full day of renowned headliners? Well, if its the 90s, you grind you teeth through an actual LIVE performance and buckle down ‘till ELASTICA takes the stage. But what if there was some unspoken etiquette to make that music going experience a little more melodic? Author Kevin Smokler may have figured something out while in crowded attendance of the 1990 World Of Music And Dance Arts Festival. So skip that concession stand and turn your attention back toward what he has to sing about this.

POP NOTES
The inaugural WOMAD festival began on July 16th 1982 in Shepton Mallet UK. Its debut line-up included founder Peter Gabriel, Echo And The Bunnymen, Simple Minds and the Beat.
Due to high production costs, the festival almost folded after its first year. Ticket sales increased following Peter Gabriel’s agreement to reunite and perform with his former Genesis bandmates. Since then, the festival has continued as an annual event staged around the world.
In addition to musical performances, the festival hosts numerous onsite workshops teaching forms of music, dance and theatrics from around the world.
The festival continues to be a monumental labor of love despite the fact that, in 2012, Gabriel stated it has only turned profit three of its, at the time, 30 years.
Due to the Coronvirus epidemic, 2020 marks the first time in 38 years the festival has been cancelled.
Tune back of Friday when Kevin makes an appearance at the Hudlin Brothers 1990 comedy hit HOUSE PARTY.
